- Remember The Sabbath:
It is a Jewish custom that weddings can not occur during the Sabbath.
The Shabbat starts from Friday evening immediately after sundown, and it ends one hour after sunset on Saturday evening.
Although most of the clergy arrange for a wedding After the end of Shabbat, you will have more options if you decide to begin after the Shabbat.
Try to avoid putting your wedding date on Friday afternoon because it will be a busy time for Jewish clergy to start preparing for Shabbat.
That is why a lot of Jewish weddings take place on Sundays.
- AVOID MAJOR JEWISH HOLIDAYS:
Specific Jewish holidays are to be avoided in fixing wedding dates.

The following are the dates that weddings can not take place in Jewish during 2021–2022.
- Holidays and Saturdays:
No wedding can be held in the evening of Saturdays or during weekends.
- Omer Countings:
During the days that Omer is counted, marriages don’t take place. The counting of Omer starts from Nisan 15th (16/4), and it last till 28th of Iyar (30/5), Which occurs before sunset. But the following dates are not included:
- For testimonies: Rosh Chodesh Iyar before sunset from 1/5–2/5.
- Lag B’ Omer occurs during evening 18/5 or before sunset on 19/5, and it is only for Ashkenazim.
- It is only for Spaniards on the 19 Iyar(20/5) and lasts for 29 (30/5).
- 28 Iyar, which is the day of Jerusalem day. And it doesn’t take place during the day; it is after sunset instead of before sunset that Jerusalem day starts, which is for all testimonies.
Among the Egyptians:
- Marriages don’t occur during March Av(28/7 in evenings), and it lasts till the fast of T. Bab (7/8). It is for Sephardim.
- For Ashkenazim– during the 7th of Tammuz (16/7), weddings don’t take place, and they last till the fast of Tev (7/8).
Here is the list of the 2022-2023 days that weddings can not occur.
- Saturdays and Holidays:
The evening of Saturdays is not meant for weddings nor during weekends.
